EREWASH WALKING MONTH

Erewash Walking Month of May is about to start and is run to promote everyday walking to improve overall health and wellbeing.

It will start on Friday 1st May until Sunday 31st May and we have 36 walks of different lengths and terrain organised to encourage everyone to get outdoors and explore the local area through walking.

All the walks are free to attend.

Please find attached a copy of the promotional leaflet which lists dates, times, and venues for all the walks.

Last year we engaged 550 walkers attending walks during Erewash Walking Month and this year it would be great if we could exceed this.

I do hope that you join at least one of the walks and if you are working Monday – Friday I would like to specifically highlight the following 14 walks which are all being held midweek evenings or over the weekends.

Saturday 2nd May

The Packhorse Trail, 10.30 am – 1 pm, The Bridge Inn, Duffield

Sunday 3rd May

Dawn Chorus at Bennerley Viaduct, 5 – 6.30 am, Bridge Street, Ilkeston (booking required)

Thursday 7th May

Elvaston Night Walk, 7-8.15 pm, Thulston Village, Green, Thulston

Saturday 9th May

Risley History Walk, 10.30 am – 12.30 pm, Risley Village Hall, Risley (booking required)

Tuesday 12th May

45 Club – Come with us for a walk and chat, 7 – 8 pm, Bridge Street, Ilkeston

Thursday 14th May

Elvaston Night Walk, 7-8.15 pm, Thulston Village, Green, Thulston

Saturday 16th May – this walk is more suited to those not able to walk very far

Accessible Walk and Talk, 1.30 – 3.30 pm, West Park Leisure Centre, Long Eaton

Wednesday 20th May

Bat Watch at Bennerley Viaduct, 8.30 – 10 pm, Bennerley Viaduct, Ilkeston

Thursday 21st May

Elvaston Night Walk, 7-8.15 pm, Thulston Village, Green, Thulston

Hike to Ockbrook School and Church, 10 am – 12.15 pm, Coop, Borrowash

The Hermitage – Hopwell Hall Farm Alpacas Loop, 10 am – 1 pm, The Royal Oak, Ockbrook

Sunday 31st May

Breaston The Coffin Walk and Shardlow Circular, 10.30 am – 3.45 pm, Behind Draycott Fish Bar, Draycott

Swan Lake Loop, 10.15 am – 12 noon, Victoria Park Leisure Centre

Shipley Lock Loop, 10.15 am – 12.30 noon, Victoria Park Leisure Centre
