Western Mere Planning Application
Further to our previous posts regarding the planning application for the old Western Mere School Site please see below a statement from the planning officer dealing with the case.
Planning Application PA/2026/0189
Outline Application for Development of up to 100 Dwellings and associated infrastructure, with all matters reserved except for access from Draycott Road
Land West of 100 Draycott Road, Breaston (former Western Mere School site)
Statement by the Case Officer
It has been reported in the press and on an AI-generated website that the above application is the first phase of a much larger development of 1000 dwellings. As a consequence, objections have been submitted that solely or partly refers to 1000 dwellings.
The Council can only assess the application before it, which is for up to 100 dwellings. Therefore, objections that solely refer to 1000 dwellings cannot be taken into account. Anyone who has solely referred to 1000 dwellings can amend and resubmit their objection.
With regard to the ‘deadline’ for responses, the Council may take into account representations that are received before the Planning Committee that the application will be reported in due course. No date has been fixed for this, as yet, but anyone who has submitted a representation will be advised of the date and their right to speak at the Committee.
Responses to the consultation or any amendments can be sent to planning@erewash.gov.uk
