Derbyshire Mobile Libraries Latest News
GREAT NEWS THE MOBILE LIBRARY SERVICE IS BACK IN BREASTON!!
I am pleased to be able to provide some updates on the mobile library service, and attach the timetables for August – October 2026.
Please note that we are currently delivering a Book & Borrow service, and customers will be contacted with further information in advance of their visit. This is a temporary measure. We identified some improvements to be made following initial testing of our brand-new mobile library vans, and we are eagerly awaiting their delivery from the fitters, ready to re-introduce browsing to mobile customers as soon as possible.
Timetables
New timetables will be in operation from 3rd August 2026. Timetables were reviewed to reflect changing populations and demand, as they had remained unchanged in over ten years. This has been formally approved and forms an important part of our Library Strategy to provide an efficient and agile mobile service which is fit for the future.
By removing unused stops and combining less-popular stops into one at some locations, we have been able to add 30 new stops in places people have requested them. We have increased the minimum stop time to 30 minutes to allow time for browsing. Customers have been moved onto the Library Management System, meaning they can now use their card in any Derbyshire Library, at any mobile library stop and for online services such as eLending (downloading eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers for free onto a phone, tablet or computer). They can also reserve books on the online catalogue. As in all Derbyshire libraries, readers can request books from across the county.
While some stops will remain the same, or with minor changes, there are some stops which we will continue to visit but the day or time may have changed.
